    Vicissitude Trivia

    • Vicissitude was a collaboration originally made for a school project.
    • Max and Jared met at CU Denver.
    • Vicissitude was recorded using only 5 tracks and 2 microphones
    • Those mics were the Sanken CUX-100K (guitar room, kick drum, piano) and the Schoeps CMC6 (guitar close, drum overhead).
    • The tracks in Vicissitude were recorded one at a time, without any monitoring. Afterwards, the 40 minutes of audio was edited into Vicissitude.

  • In Japan

    Personnel

    • Ethan Lipka – Vocals, Floor Tom
    • Jared Lipka – Production, Album Art

    In Japan Trivia

    • In Japan was not written in Japan.
    • Ethan randomly declared “we need a beat,” grabbed one of Jared’s sticks, and started hitting the floor tom and told Xander to Clap.
    • In Japan was written because Xander’s parents were in Japan, and he couldn’t call them until his clock read 7 PM, hence the enigmatic lyric: “my parents are in Japan, can’t call them ’till 7 PM.”
    • This entire project was recorded with a single mic. It was Jared’s favorite mic in his collection: a Sennheiser e935.
  • Sin Ti

Here’s another project from Jared and Friends. This one was written by Carlos Magallon. We recorded the first longer version a long time ago with Al Ydian singing backup vocals and playing rhythm guitar. After Al’s passing we decided to record a new version with him in mind.

  • Limelight (cover)

The new project, “Jared and Friends,” has seen it’s first published work! This is a cover of the masterpiece “Limelight” by Rush, performed by myself (drums), Brian De Wild (Guitar), Charlie Dowden (Bass), and Jacob Kolb (Vocals). This cover was done remotely by sharing files back and forth over the course of a few months.
